E001 Unable to extract data

What to do when Jarvis can't read your uploaded file.

What this means: Jarvis tried to read your file but couldn't extract any data from it. No records have been processed.

Why this might happen: The file may be corrupted or saved in an unsupported format. This sometimes occurs when a CSV file is edited or resaved in a way that damages the data rows, even though the header looks fine.

What to do

  1. Open the file in Excel or a text editor and check that it looks correct: you should see a header row followed by data rows

  2. Re-export the file from your payroll system and try uploading again

  3. If the issue persists, contact Jarvis Support and we'll help you figure out what's going on
