Why can't I see my contribution, or why does it look delayed? (Opt-out windows & provider transitions)

Reassures members that contributions showing as pending, delayed, or temporarily invisible during an opt-out window or a provider transition are not missing — explains why, and when they'll appear.

If your pension contribution isn't showing yet, or shows as "pending", this is normal and expected in a few common situations. Your money is not missing — it's held or in transit for a specific reason explained below.

You're still within your opt-out window

Every member gets a one-time 30-day opt-out window starting from enrolment. During this window, contributions deducted from your pay are held temporarily rather than being paid into your pension pot straight away. This is so they can be refunded promptly if you decide to opt out within the window.

Once your opt-out window closes, any held contributions are released into your pension pot automatically — no action is needed from you. This usually happens within 1–2 pay cycles after the window closes, or as soon as your employer completes their payroll submission.

Your employer recently switched pension providers

If your employer has recently moved to Jarvis from another provider, this can sometimes cause a short delay in contributions being processed or appearing in your pot. Your employer is still expected to make the payment as soon as possible under standard auto-enrolment timelines.

Important: switching providers does not reset or reopen your original opt-out window. That window is tied to your very first enrolment date, not to any later provider change.

Payment timing under UK auto-enrolment rules

Employers must pay contributions by the 22nd of the month after payday if sending them electronically. For example, if you're paid in April, your employer has until 22 May to send the money across. A contribution showing as "pending" usually just means your employer has instructed the payment but it hasn't been received yet — this is expected and will update automatically once funds arrive.

When to get in touch

If contributions remain held for more than 6 weeks after your opt-out window has closed, or it's been a few days past the 22nd with no update, contact us at [email protected] so we can look into it.
