What to do when an employee opts out

You’re responsible for processing the refund. Jarvis does not handle refunds directly.

Within the opt-out window

  1. See the opt-out in Employee Requests.

  2. Stop pension deductions from the next pay run.

  3. Process the refund via payroll, return the employer and employee contributions to each party.

  4. Refunds should be processed within one month of the opt-out confirmation.

After the opt-out window

If an employee tries to opt out after the one-month window has closed, their contributions can’t be refunded. The money stays invested in their Jarvis pension pot until retirement or transfer to another provider.

Re-enrolment

Re-assess opted-out employees every 3 years at your re-enrolment date. If still eligible, enrol again, The member can opt-out again if they choose.
